UPH Vlogger Talk Show Presents Martin Anugrah, Sharing Experiences in the Digital World.

UPH Vlogger Talk Show, is an internal event for UPH and middle school students who are interested in the current vlog trends. The talk show which took place on March 22, 2019, at the 4th floor HOPE Building, UPH Lippo Village Campus, presented Martin Anugrah, one of the members of Cameo Project, to share his active experience on the digital platform.

This talk show was a response from UPH related to the digital world trend that was close to “anak-anak zaman now” and became a place for them to be creative and expressive. The convenience provided by this digital trend hopefully can be utilized in a positive way. This was also supported by Martin’s explanation during this talk show session.

“Apart from all the convenience of digital access, video content is not just ‘broadcast’, but must be able to give an impact to others. Quality content is a content that does not think of itself but the audience. It’s not only thinking of entertaining elements but also the element of educating. We have to think about whether after they watch, they can change for the better or not. Especially for YouTube channels that already have a larger audience, they must have a good impact to be able to change the quality of humanity through its videos,” Martin said.

It is the principle which he holds with Cameo Project that brings Cameo Project to become one of Indonesia’s YouTube channels that won the Global Ambassador Creators for Change category.

Moreover, Martin also provided advice that as a video content creator s/he must know the existing laws so as not to create harmful content and violate applicable regulations such as the ITE Law. Therefore, Martin recommended to create content that is safe but still sharp and not to create content that has the potential to offend others.

Closing the talk show, Martin shared tips that could be applied by young content creators so they would not be ‘nervous’ or ‘awkward’ when doing vlogs.

“For those who want to do vlogging, do the research first. Look for facts, references, points to discuss, what perspective you want to take, and then practice a lot. ‘Vlogging is about storytelling.’ That’s the point. By mastering the material, it will make us confident. Another solution is to practice a lot in front of the camera, from those who are not used to until being used to. Being ‘Grogi’ or awkward is normal because we are not used to, so just keep practicing,” closed Martin.

UPH Vlogger Talk Show was the peak of the UPH Vlogger Competition held by UPH’s Marketing and Admission Department in the period December 2018 – February 2019. In addition to the talk show, this opportunity also presented screening of the 3 best vlog videos selected through the UPH Vlogger Competition. Martin also gave comments and advices for the 3 vlogs.

Through the entire series of activities, the Marketing and Admission Department hopes to inspire both the internal participants and the high school students; to inspire that hobbies can be packaged into something useful. By realizing the development of digital technology, this hobby and vlog trend can be used as a medium for delivering useful and fun messages.

Winner’s Testimonials

Hansen Wijaya & Kelvin Modjo – Communication Science 2018 (1st Runner Up)

“Because we are both UPH students and share the same hobby in the field of videography, we are participating in the UPH Vlogger Competition. The message we want to convey through the video is that we want to show that UPH has many good facilities that make students comfortable to study. Besides that, we also want to be an inspiration for other students to want to take part in this event as a place to channel their talents and interests, especially in videography.”

Fernando Yosse – Management 2017 (2nd Runner Up)

“For me, the Vlog is a work in the form of videos that are usually used for expression by generations like me, the millennial. Because of it, I participated in the UPH Vlogger competition as a place to express works and to release what I had learned in UKM. The video is based on true story of me myself as a student. So the message is to encourage other students who feel what I am experiencing, that is, to be alone, to remember that at UPH there is a place that can be used as a ‘home’ for us loners.”
