UPH Surabaya Law Student Achievements: Nafis Dwi Kartiko Wins Best Paper Award at KARISMA OJKI 2024.

Nafis Dwi Kartiko, a Law Program student from Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Surabaya Campus, has once again brought pride to his alma mater by winning the prestigious “Best Paper” award at the KARISMA OJKI 2024 event, a scientific competition organized by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Nafis’s two research papers won top recognition in several categories:
1. “How Does Banking Innovation Impact Banking Stability in Indonesia? The Moderating Role of Gender Diversity” in the Financial Innovation in the Banking Industry category
2. “Does Financial Innovation Support Development of Pensions and Insurance? The Moderating Role of Green Technology” in the Financial Innovation in the Insurance, Guarantee, and Pension Fund Industry category, co-authored with two of his peers.

These works outperformed many participants from various institutions across Indonesia. Due to his research, Nafis received a trophy and a cash prize.

In his research, Nafis explored how innovation in the banking sector affects banking stability in Indonesia, with a specific focus on the moderating role of gender diversity in the industry. This study was considered highly relevant to current developments in the financial sector, which increasingly emphasize aspects of inclusion and diversity, particularly in the context of gender.

Additionally, his second study explored the relationship between financial innovation and the development of the pension and insurance sectors. It highlighted the moderating role of green technology in influencing or strengthening this relationship. Overall, his research aimed to assess whether innovations in the financial sector, such as new financial products or services, can support the growth of the pension and insurance sectors, while considering the impact of green technology on these dynamics.

This award was announced during the virtual Awarding Ceremony & Dissemination of KARISMA OJKI 2024, held on October 11, 2024. The event was attended by various key figures from OJK, financial industry experts, and academics from across Indonesia.

The Head of the Law Program at UPH Surabaya Campus, Dr. Fajar Sugianto, S.H., M.H., expressed his pride in Nafis’s achievement. “This achievement is not only a source of pride for Nafis personally but also for the entire academic community of UPH. We hope that this accomplishment will inspire other students to continue creating and innovating in both academic and professional fields,” he said.

KARISMA OJKI is an annual scientific competition aimed at encouraging students, academics, and financial practitioners to develop innovative solutions that support societal well-being through the role of the financial industry.
