1.126 UPH Students Will Join the Presidential Election in Karawaci.
1.126 UPH students from outside of Banten have gotten hold of their A5 forms and have secured their voting slots to be used in voting sites around Karawaci on April 17, 2019. This effort is made possible by Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) through the Dormitory department – MYC UPH, that organizes the process, and UPH’s collaborative effort with KPU (the Public Elections Committee) Tangerang.
This collaboration is shown through the opening of the booth assisting the change of voting sites in Building D, UPH Lippo Village, on March 4-5, 2019.
The collaboration between UPH and the KPU Tangerang has been established since November 6, 2018, when a socialization for all UPH students was conducted. This is UPH’s effort to ensure that all students that cannot go home during the election period can still participate in the nation’s future through the use of their voting rights.
The booth, maintained by the KPU Tangerang, is made possible by the initiation done by UPH’s Law Study Program – that first approached KPU Tangerang. This action is done on the realization that there are a lot of UPH students that live out of the Banten province, especially students from Teachers College, Faculty of Nursing, and other students from out of the province.
The representative from KPU Tangerang, Indah Nurhayanti – the Coordinator of the Data and Information Division, testified that the enthusiasm of UPH students to maintain their voting rights is extremely high. Indah also explained the steps that should be taken to check if our names have been listed as voters, before proceeding to request for a change in the place of voting.
“Make sure that your name has been listen in DPT (the List of Voters) of the 2019 National Election. This can be checked on lindungihakpilihmu.kpu.go.id, or on the Android app – linkbit.ly/cekpemilihapp. If your name is listed, you can fill out the form to request for a change of your voting site through bit.ly/dptbuph2019. Then, the request will be verified by the KPU and you can wait for the next announcement,” Indah said.
Indah also explained that after processed by the KPU, the KPU will give back the A5 forms to UPH. After this procedure is finished, voters will be informed on the sites where they can vote.
Indah concluded by reminding us that we can always use our right to vote, wherever we are. (pl/mt)
