UPH Student-Led Organization Leaders Inauguration 2018/2019: UPH Spiritual Growth Inaugurates New Leaders of SG for Student.

Universitas Pelita Harapan Spiritual Growth (UPH SG) inaugurates 32 new leaders of UPH Lippo Village SG for Student for the 2018/2019 period. This student-led organization consists of 9 divisions – Student Fellowship, Praise and Worship, Prayer, Usher, Media, Public Relations, U-Speak (Christian Apologetics), BaSiC (Brother and Sister in Christ), and Training and Outreach.

These new leaders have been selected by the Selection Head of UPH SG, and they will undergo more trainings through a leader training camp. In addition to the 32 organizers, there are other students involved in UPH SG for Student, namely those serving in MSCF (Medical Science Christian Fellowship) and those serving in the Surabaya and Medan campuses.

Rimawati, UPH SG Section Head, hopes that the newly-elected leaders can lead lives that places Christ as the center, that grows in faith, and that can be witnesses to their colleagues on campus.

This inauguration was held on July 11, 2018, in the Grand Chapel of UPH Lippo Village. Along with UPH SG leaders, some 544 new organization leaders were inaugurated in this commemoration – leaders of Majelis Perwakilan Mahasiswa (MPM), Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM), Service Learning Community (SLC), Student Activity Units (UKMs), Mentoring, and Study Program Student Councils (HMPS).

The inauguration was administered by the Rector himself, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc. The Rector advises the students to keep having servant spirits throughout the year in order to serve their respective organizations effectively. He also reminds the students to always believe in God’s help and providence, and to continually strive towards becoming a positive influence to the people around them.

One of the new leaders of SG for Student, Angelica Kumendong (Industrial Engineering 2016) testified to being deeply grateful to be entrusted the position of Head of SG for Student. To Angelica, this organization is a way for her to use her abilities for God – through serving her fellow students at campus.

“I am exceedingly thankful to be part of UPH’s student led organization under the Department of Student Life. Here, I can develop my potentials, learn about a lot of things directly from experts, and practice my relational skills. I believe that this organization is the right place to go for students who want to serve and have the calling to do more than just study,” Angel chirped.

In the 2018/2019 period, Spiritual Growth has organized weekly events such as fellowships to train singers, music players, multimedia organizers, and ushers. There is also training for Bible Study, administered through the ‘Brother and Sister in Christ’ program. Yearly events have been also put into planning – long-awaited events such as a Youth Camp, Spiritual Growth Discipleship Camp, and a mission trip designed to reach people outside the campus.
