"Menristekdikti Highlights Importance of National Research and Competitiveness at SNSRT UPH ".
Karawaci, 4 Juli 2019 – Master of Notary Program Study under the Law Faculty of Universitas Pelita Harapan (MKn FH UPH) collaborated with Pengurus Wilayah Banten Ikatan Notaris Indonesia (Pengwil Banten INI) to hold the National Seminar titled ‘Strategy in Raising Quality of Promising Notaris in 4.0 Era’ at UPH Karawaci, Tangerang. The National Seminar was opened by Daulat Pandapotan Silitonga, SH., M.Hum – Civil Director of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Ditjen AHU KEMENKUMHAM RI).
The National Seminar was attended by 15 universities such as Universitas Surabaya, Universitas Pancasila, Universitas Jayabaya, Universitas Tarumanegara, and so on. The representatives from the Notary Association, Anggota Luar Biasa (ALB) INI, notaries, and students amounted to about 250 participants.
The event was held in tandem with the Sixth Dies Natalis of MKn FH UPH. In attendance were Director General of Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) – Patdono Suwignjo, Head PP of Ikatan Notaris Indonesia (INI) – Yualita W., Founder of Lippo Group – Dr. (HC) Mochtar Riady, UPH Dean of Law – Prof. Bintan Saragih, UPH Chancellor – Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., Head of Pengwil INI Banten – Rani Ridayanthi SH, MH, UPH Vice President of Marketing, External Cooperation and Business Development – Stephanie Riady, and Head of Notary Study Program – Dr. Susi Susantijo SH, LL.M.
In the opening speech, Daulat Silitonga read a Keynote Speech from Yasonna H. Laoly, S.H., MSC., Ph.D., who is the Minister of Law and HAM RI.
Silitonga read, “In giving the best service, KEMENKUMHAM have used information technology in making access simpler so that the people will be served quickly. On the other hand, KEMENKUMHAM was given maturity in order to serve the notaries, so that the ministry has a moral responsibility to grow quality notaries. In this 4.0 era, what is good does not only include a simple understanding of the people but also making use of information technology.”
Welcoming the attendance of KEMENKUMHAM at UPH, UPH Chancellor Parapak revealed his gratefulness and hoped that the seminar will become an input to the government.
Chancellor Parapak said, “We know that in the quick building process, notaries are needed. It is hoped that through this seminar, we can give input to the government in how professional notary programs should be carried out and how much it is needed by the people.”
Talking about the quality of notaries in Indonesia, Minister Laoly stated that notaries must be competent and able to support the government.
Minister Laoly said, “The quality is not in mastering only theory but also in understanding UU Jabatan Notaris that regulates instances, responsibilities, prohibitions, ethical code of notaries, and others.”
Taking other things into consideration, Dr. Mochtar Riady delivered the message that the notaries must be able to adapt in information technology development in the 4.0 era and that they are able to make use of Artificial Intelligence in fulfilling their responsibilities.
In this event, there was also the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between MKn FH UPH and PP-INI Pusat that was done by UPH Chancellor and Head of PP-INI; The MoU signing with Pengwil Banten INI was done by FH UPH Dean and Pengwil Banten INI Head.
MKn FH UPH opened since 2013 and currently has as much as 422 active students, producing 596 alumni who are raised as notaries and Pejabat Pembuat Akta Tanah (PPAT). As of now, MKn UPH study programs have combined with the Notary Study Program of Private Universities (FK PS MKn PTS) through a Work Forum that includes 19 Private Universities all over the nation. In the range of Dies Natalis, other than the National Seminar, MKn FH UPH was also responsible for hosting the routine meeting of FK PS MKn PTS.
For the end of the National Seminar, there was Dr. Ir. Patdono Suwignjo, M.Eng.Sc. (Director General of Kemenristekdikti), Dr. Habib Adjie, S.H., M.Hum. (Vice Head of FK PS MKn PTS Indonesia) as speakers. The Representatives of MKn study programs continued the routine meeting of FK PS MKn PTS which was held on 5 July 2019 at Pasca Sarjana UPH Plaza Semanggi, Jakarta.
In this opportunity, Dr. Susi Susantijo, S.H., LL.M., Head of MKn UPH study program explained the process of becoming a notary and that is it a long, challenging road.
Dr. Susantijo explained, “After receiving the Master of Notary degree, there will be other steps that you must go through. You must graduate the ALB INI test, interning at a notary office for two years, participate in a joint internship, pass the UKEN ethics test, and fulfill other requirements. To become a notary, you must be raised by the Ministry of Law and HAM RI.”
MKn FH UPH is supported by a team of dedicated educators of law and law practice, who are in synergy with the FK PS MKn PTS Indonesia Association and INI and who are optimistic in producing quality, competitive public officials of the 4.0 era.
