Dr. (Hon.) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc.

Rector

Dr. (Hon.) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc. is a graduate from the University of Tasmania, Australia, and was awarded an Honorary Doctor from Ouachita Baptist University. He has an extensive experience in business and government services. He was the President, CEO, and Chairman of Indosat. Dr. Parapak served as a Secretary General of the Department of Tourism, Post, Telecommunication; a member of the National Council of Research. Joining UPH in 2001, he was then appointed as the President and Rector of UPH in 2006.

Ir. Budhi T. Yuwono, M.M., M.Pd.

Senior Assistant to Rector

He received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Trisakti University, Master of Management degree from Universitas Indonesia, and Master of Education degree from Universitas Pelita Harapan. He has been working with Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan (YPPH) since 1993 for school development, especially in remote areas. He is also working for UPH in the area of networking and scholarship. Before joining YPPH, he worked for IBM for 8 years in several position in marketing.

Stephanie Riady, B.A. M.Ed.

Vice-President for Marketing, External Cooperation, and Business Development

Stephanie Riady earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Wheaton College and her Masters of Education (M.Ed.) Degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. With a background in educational philosophy, Stephanie is now involved at UPH and the Pelita Harapan foundation.

Dr. Curtis Jay Taylor, Ph. D.

Vice President for Student Development

In 2015, after visiting UPH ten times over a period of 5 years, Dr. Curtis Jay. Taylor moved to Indonesia with his family in order to join the International Teachers College at Universitas Pelita Harapan as a teacher and the Director of Admissions. In this capacity he has the privilege of recruiting qualified Christian students from around the world for the primary and secondary English education programs that the ITC offers. Prior to coming to Indonesia, Dr. Taylor served Dordt College in Iowa (USA) for 23 years in various administrative roles, including Dean for Global Education, Special Assistant to the President, Vice President for Student Services, and Director of Residence Life. Over the course of his career in higher education. Dr. Taylor has also held administrative roles at Iowa State University (USA), the University of Washington (USA) and Michigan State University (USA) and has served in leadership positions on numerous national boards related to higher education. Dr. Taylor has had the honor of speaking to groups in over 30 countries in North America and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia on topics related to Christian education, US higher education, leadership, and strategic planning. He has served as president of the Sioux Center Chamber of Commerce, as vice president of the Sioux Center Christian School Board, and as a member of the Board of Directors of St. Luke’s College in Sioux City. Dr. Taylor earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Calvin College (USA), a master's degree in college and university administration from Michigan State University (USA), and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies from Iowa State University (USA).

Hana Herawati

Vice President for Finance and Administration

Hana Herawati has had the privilege of managing the administration departments, including Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, General Affairs, and Public Relations for almost 20 years at Sekolah Pelita Harapan and PT ORIX Indonesia Finance. She graduated from Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Urban and Regional Planning. She firmly believes in UPH's vision and mission as God's instruments in redeeming the fallen world through Christian Education.

Gunawaty Tjioe, B.Ed., M.Pd., Ph.D.

Vice President for Academic Affairs

She received her Philosophical Doctor degree (Ph.D.) in Educational Studies from Biola University, California; Master of Education degree (M.Pd.) from Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia; Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from Tabor College, Adelaide, Australia; and Doktoranda (Dra.) in English Language and Literature from Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medan, Indonesia. Her theological knowledge was obtained through one year study at the International Theological Seminary, Los Angeles, USA; and she is also equipped in the field of Early Childhood Education through her study at the Pasadena City College, California, USA. She has been with YPPH since 2003, starting as a teacher at the Sekolah Pelita Harapan, Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, and then taking the role as a Lecturer at UPH Teachers College. She served as the Dean of the Faculty of Education for 4 years before she takes the current role as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The longing of her heart is to see holistic transformative Christian education taking place from preschool to university level across Indonesia, where the students are led to know their Creator and Savior, and where each student will discover, develop and use their talents for the glory of God.

Prof. Dr. Adrianus Mooy, M.Sc

Senior Advisor

Prof. Mooy obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin (USA), and M.Sc. in Economics (Money and Banking) from the same University. He received his B.Sc. in Economics from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta (Indonesia). He has an extensive experience in many different areas including education as Lecturer mostly at the Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, where he obtained his full professorship in economics. He was also a member of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and a member of Government Committees responsible for the drafting of the Guidelines of State Policy (GBHN). He helped the Government in several capacities: as Deputy Chairman of National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) responsible for the formulation of a Five Years Development Plans (REPELITA) particularly on macro-economic planning as well as fiscal, monetary, and balance of payments planning. He also served as Governor of Bank Indonesia (the Central Bank of Indonesia) and as Indonesian Ambassador to the European Union based in Brussels, Belgium. On the international front, he served the United Nations as Under-Secretary-General / Executive Secretary of UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) based in Bangkok, Thailand. Prof. Mooy joined UPH in 2007 as Senior Advisor until today. He was also the Rector of UPH Surabaya until 2018.

Niel B. Nielson, Ph.D.

Dr. Niel Nielson earned his Master of Arts and Ph.D. degrees in philosophy from Vanderbilt University in the USA. He has served as professor and university president, and also has worked in business and in church ministry. Currently he serves as Senior Advisor to Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan, and also on boards of directors of both for-profit and not-for-profit enterprises.

Richard holds a master degree in English Language Studies from Universitas Sanata Dharma (Yogyakarta). His area of specialization is literature, with special interest on the relation between Christian worldview and teaching literature. He also has a passion in apologetics, as it is perceived as the logical consequence of being Christian and scholar.

Dr. Henri P. Uranus published 17 international journals papers, 60 international conference papers (2 of them are post-deadline papers in prestigious conferences, 1 best paper award), 2 international magazines articles, 9 Indonesian national journals papers, and 26 national conference papers to his credit. His international journal papers got more than 250 citation hits, giving an h-index is 9 (according to the SCOPUS) with his highest-cited paper hits > 80 citations (according to the SCOPUS). He also serves as a regular peer reviewer for several prestigious international journals of IEEE, OSA, and IoP.

Ir. W. Donald R. Pokatong, M.Sc., Ph.D.

Head of Food Technology

Earned a bachelor degree in Agricultural Product Processing from Universitas Sam Ratulangi, Manado, and Master of Science and Doctoral degrees, in Food Science and Molecular Biology, respectively, from Department of Applied Microbiology and Food Science at University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. Professionally, he is AACC International, USA and PATPI members.

Julia Tan, M.Sc.

Executive Dean of School of Design

Julia Tan graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design (2000) and Master of Science in Strategic Design Management (2018) from Parsons School of Design. She joined Janko Rasic Architects in New York City, handling clients such as Credit Suisse, Westdeutsche Landesbank, Bank of Thailand, the African Union, the English-Speaking Union and the Coca-Cola Company. In 2004, she received her Interior Designer license from the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) in New York. Julia later opened her own design firm and a retail jewelry business for ten years. She was active not only in Interior Design and Jewelry Design but also in Product Design, Exhibition Design, Visual Merchandising, Web Design and Textile Design. In 2010, Julia moved to Indonesia with her family. She loves teaching and developing people to discover their passion, purpose and calling. She believes that a great designer brings a transformative solution and impact to the society. She hopes that she can bring the design community together and raise Indonesia's appreciation for this community through international accreditation and licensure.

Dr. Niko Sudibjo, S.Psi., M.A.

Niko Sudibjo earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology (S1) from the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya in 1993. After working several years in Surabaya, he continued to pursue his M.A. in Christian Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Texas, USA, and graduated in 1998. Then, in 2010, he got his Doctoral degree in Educational Management from Universitas Negeri Jakarta (a Sandwich Like Program with the University of Victoria, Canada). In 2011, he was funded by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education in Indonesia to join a program called Better Education through Reformed Management and Universal Teacher Upgrading (BERMUTU) at The Institute of Education, University College London, UK.

John Riady received his Bachelor's in Political Science and Economics from Georgetown University; his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania; and a Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School. He is also a member of the NY Bar Association. Asides from teaching law at UPH, John is also Editor-at-large at Beritasatu Media Holdings; Chairman of the US-Indonesia Bilateral Committee at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KIKAS-KADIN); Member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum; Serves on the Columbia University Law School International Advisory Board; and is Commissioner of Liga Mahasiswa (LIMA), Indonesia's national collegiate athletics league.

Head of School of Tourism

Diena Mutiara Lemy, has started her academic career with UPH since 1997 as the Deputy Head of Travel Industry Management. She then becomes the Head of Travel Industry Management Dept. from 2000 – 2004 and The Head of Hospitality Management Dept. from 2005 – June 2012. She received her Diploma IV from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STP) Bandung, majoring in Tourism Management. Her Master Degree is obtained from Pelita Harapan University, and in 2010 she obtained her Doctoral Degree from Trisakti University, majoring in Service Management. As a tourism and hospitality management lecturer, she is also active in several activities conducted by The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Today she holds the position of Secretary General of The Association of Indonesia Tourism Higher Education (Hildiktipari – Himpunan Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Pariwisata Indonesia).

Yustisia Kristiana earned her Bachelor of Applied Science in Tourism from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bandung. She then earned her Master of Human Resources Management from UPH. Currently, she is a competence assessor of National Professional Certification Board (BNSP). Her research interest is in Tourism, particularly in Sustainable Tourism.

He has received several research grants from Kemenristek Dikti. He is a stock investor, and applies his research findings to his investment activities.

Mrs. Delicia Mandy graduated from Universitas Pelita Harapan with a concentration from Church Music with a full scholarship. She received her master's degree in Piano Performance from Texas State University and is currently active as a collaborative pianist, music director, and lecturer in piano applied lessons.

Dr. Reinhard Pinontoan

Dr. Reinhard Pinontoan is the Head of Biology Department in the Universitas Pelita Harapan. He received his Doctoral degree in Agricultural Science at Nagoya University in 1997 and completed his post-doctoral training on cancer research in Nagoya University Bioscience and Biotechnology Center and Shanghai Cancer Institute in 2005. His current research stretches from the area of environmental sciences to health sciences.

Enriched with his experience as a professional architect, this graduate from Indonesia Technology Institute (ITI) consistently teaches Construction Management since 1998 and in 2001, he started joining UPH as permanent lecturer at Architecture Department. After acquiring SIBP Arsitek and finished his Master Degree in Civil Engineering at Universitas Indonesia in the year 2000, his research interest toward Fire Safety area was his Dissertation material at the Doctoral Program of Civil Engineering Universitas Indonesia, fully supported by UPH scholarship.

Currently, he serves as a Professor in Universitas Indonesia and being a member of PERSAHI (Persatuan Sarjana Hukum Indonesia).

Eric Jobiliong, Ph.D.

Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology & School of Information Science and Technology

Eric joined the Industrial Engineering Department Universitas Pelita Harapan in 2007, as lecturer in Physics and Math. He graduated from Physics department at Universitas Indonesia (UI) in 1996. He has served as the executive director of center for research and community development (CRCD) since 2013 and became the chairman of CRCD in 2017. In 1997, he obtained the University Research for Graduate Education (URGE) Project Scholarship for his master degree in Physics at UI and graduated with cum laude in 1999. In 2002, he started his doctoral program in Physics at Florida State University (FSU). He got postdoctoral fellowship at Georgetown University, USA in 2006. He also received Fulbright-DIKTI research program in 2011 to do research in USA. His research interest is in condensed matter Physics and laser spectroscopy. He has published more than 30 international journal papers with H-Index of 9 according to Scopus (July 2017). He has working experience both as teacher and employee in private industry, but he believes that his calling is in teaching. He also believes that teaching is not only transferring knowledge but also reaching out and transforming lives.

Dr. Martin Luqman Katoppo, S.T., M.T.

Dr. Martin Luqman Katoppo, S.T., M.T. was educated, trained and graduated as an architect at Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) on the year of 1998, when Indonesia had its turmoil and entering the era of Reformation. The uncertainty at that time made Martin questioning the relevance of architecture and later becoming his obsession. In 2002 Martin obtained his master in architecture - specializing in history, theory and criticism at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), where as Martin also achieved his Doctoral degree in 2017 with a dissertation entitled Design as Generator for Empowering Communitya. Martin then entered both architectural practice and academic institution, believing that both are necessary means for being an architect. In architectural practice, Martin and his wife mostly acknowledged for their Rumah Besi (steel house) an experimental (sustainable) home that they created and became the finalist in IAI awards 2011 (highest national architectural competition held by Indonesian Architect Association). In academic institution, Martin became a lecturer in Interior Design Department, School of Design, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) since 2005 until now. Martin held the position of Head of Department of Interior Design from 2010-2013 and now served as Acting Dean for School of Design (SoD), UPH. As an academic Martin published scholarly article in both indexed International and National Journal. Propelled by his passion in architecture and his obsession of always pushing its limits, in 2013 Martin and other lecturers from SoD, UPH founded DAG-Design as Generator, where he explores the possibility of making design as a champion, a generator of change within community. as an organization with a vision of empowering people with an approach of participatory and collaborative design. DAG already had several projects, especially in urban kampong at Southern Tangerang ranging from making design interventions for domestic waste problems, greenery and creative space for children and up to remote area in Kalimantan. Martin carry out all of these with a belief that design should become light for others.

Matthew R. Malcolm, Ph.D.

Matthew Malcolm graduated with honours from the Australian College of Theology before gaining a Ph.D in New Testament from the University of Nottingham, UK. After working in theological education in Australia he joined the Faculty of Liberal Arts at UPH in 2016, becoming the Dean in 2017. At this time he was also completing an M.Ed at the University of Western Australia. Dr. Malcolm has published several books in the field of biblical interpretation, and continues to conduct research in the areas of biblical interpretation and liberal arts education. He sees the Faculty of Liberal Arts as providing a crucial educational foundation for UPH students, and he strives to enable students to fulfill their God-given potential in their lives and studies.

Priskila Christine is the best graduate from the Computer Science Study Program from the Department of Mathematics at Universitas Kristen Immanuel, Yogyakarta, and the Industrial Engineering Master's Study Program at UPH. He is a member of the Clean Resources and Production Efficiency Experts Association (PAESPBI) and his research interest is Information Systems Analysis and Design.

Dr. Susi Susantijo, S.H., LL.M.

Susi Susantijo started her law career as in-house lawyer and Corporate Secretary in a multinational group of companies. She earned her Bachelor of Law (SH) from the Faculty of Law - Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU); Master of Law (LL.M) from Murdoch University - Australia and Doctor of Law from Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). She joins UPH since 2004, she was the Director of Administration to UPH Law Faculty and started her route in academia teaching Civil Law, Commercial Law and Law & Human Rights. Currently, she was entrusted to serve as Department Chair of Master of Public Notary at UPH Graduate School.

She earned her Bachelor of Tourism Applied Science in Hotel Administration from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Bandung, her Master of Management in Marketing from UPH, and her Doctor in Service Management from Faculty of Economics at Universitas Trisakti. For the past 11 years, she is actively involved as one of the national assessors for the Board of National Accreditation for Higher Education (BAN-PT) and actively takes part in helping the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, been working on various projects related to the national sustainable tourism development since 2010.

He is a Bachelor of Accounting from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI), one of the best in Indonesia, and holds a Master in Management (S-2) in the field of Finance from Tarumanagara University, and holds a Doctorate (S-3) degree in Accounting Science from the Accounting Postgraduate Program, Faculty of Economics and Business from the University of Indonesia (FEB UI). Registered as a State Register Accountant (Akuntan Register Negara), and an active professional member of the Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants (Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia), he also has research fields in the field of audit quality, financial accounting and capital markets.

Since January 2012, Henry has become Head of Postgraduate Programe, School of Law at Pelita Harapan University (UPH). He got his Doctorate Degree in Law from Gadjah Mada University of Yogyakarta in 2010 with dissertation on “Moral Rights in the Copyright Law”. He finished his study of Master of Laws (LL.M.) specialised in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from the University of London in 1993. Having been a legislative drafter in the Cabinet Secretariat of Indonesia, this graduate of Constitutional Law of Diponegoro University of Semarang who was born in Solo in 1955 had been the Deputy of Administrative Affairs at the Vice President Office of Indonesia from 2005 to 2010. Previously, Henry headed the Bureau of Law at the same institution. IPR has greatly concerned him in line with the development of the National IPR System as well as his activity as a lecturer at UPH and other universities and that in non government organizations and professional organizations.

After finishing his Theology study in South East Asia Seminary (Seminari Alkitab Asia Tenggara) in 2009, currently Mr. Yulianto is in the final process of getting his Magister of Ministry from Amanat Agung Seminar (Sekolah Tinggi Teologia Amanat Agung). In UPH, he has been involved in academic activities as lecturers and ministry to students.

Connie Rasilim, S.S., B.Ed., M.Pd.

Dean of Teachers Collage & Faculty of Psychology

The 2019-2020 academic year marks her 25th year of involvement in the Pelita Harapan educational systems. She was assigned as part of the pioneering team for the establishment and implementation of the IB-PYP curriculum at SPH in 2000 and selected as a co-pioneer of UPH Teachers College in 2006. While in her role as TC Dean, she was also assigned as UPH Provost during April 2012 – February 2016. Resuming to her full role as the Dean of Education effective March 2016, she is concurrently entrusted as the Dean of Psychology. Earning her master’s degree in Educational Technology from Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia; Bachelor of Education from Tabor College, Australia; and Bachelor in English Language and Literature from Universitas Methodist Indonesia, she is currently a doctoral candidate from Biola University, USA in Educational Studies. As one who is passionate about transformative education in a holistic, relational context, she believes that the heart of true education is relationship – with the triune God through the person and work of Christ, self, and others. With Mark 12:30-31 as her primary educational principle, she is convinced that education is not merely about acquiring true knowledge and developing competent skills with godly character, but also, ultimately, finding our true identity in Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:15-20; 2:3).

She earned all of her degrees in law at Universitas Pelita Harapan. Being a full time lecturer at School of Law Universitas Pelita Harapan, her main focus of study is Business Law, Contract and Indonesian Tort Law.

Adriani Gunawan, M.M.

Earning multiple bachelor's degrees in Management and Education in Australia, Adriani furthered her master's studies in Early Childhood and in School Management in Indonesia. As co-founder of a kindergarten, she has over 10 years of marketing and management experience in multi-national companies and over 20 years of experience in the education field.

Beverley Wonsono, B.A., M.A.

She earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Wheaton College, Illinois, as well as a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Columbia University, New York. She has had experiences in elementary and high school settings as both a teacher and an administrator.

Rev. Yohanes Halim

Director of Spiritual Growth and Student Affairs

He earned degrees in Chemistry from ITB, Finance from UI, and Divinity & Theology from RTS Orlando. He used to work in Corporate Finance & Banking (1994-2013) and have experienced in ministry for youth & young adult for more than 20 years before serving at Karawaci Presbyterian Church as an associate pastor.

Dr. Budi Wibawanta, S.Sos., M.Si.

He started to join at Universitas Pelita Harapan as a lecturer in Teachers College since 2007. Achieved Master Degree in Political Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. Received scholarship from UPH to continue his study and in 2018, accomplished the doctoral degree from Universitas Negeri Jakarta majoring in Educational Technology.

Novel Priyatna, S.E., M.Th.

He earned a bachelor degree in accounting from Trisakti University and a master's degree in counseling from Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Reformed Indonesia. He has experienced in ministry for adolescent to adult on teaching and counseling areas for more than 15 years. He is a member of AKKI (Asosiasi Konselor Kristen Indonesia).

She used to work in Industrial Company such as manufacturing, retail, property and developer, also trading company for almost 20 years. She joined since UPH Teachers College was established in 2006 and really enjoy to lead the Promotion and Student Recruitment team in finding mature Christian who has a calling to be a Christian teacher.

He earned his Master of Theology from Permata Bangsa Seminary, Jakarta. He has been serving in administration since 2008.

Jeffry Widjaja, S.E., M.M.

Jeffry Widjaja earned his Bachelor of Economic major on Accounting from STIE Bandung. For more than 8 years, he worked in industrial and manufacturing companies (PT. Sinar Mas Agri Resources and Technology; PT. ISM Bogasari Flour Mills) in Financial Division. After then, he continued his study and earned Master of Financial Management from UPH. Currently, he serves as an administrator and also a lecturer of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Grace Wirawan, S.E., M.Sc.

She graduated with bachelor degree in Accounting from Atma Jaya University after then she earned her Master degree at McNeese State University, USA. After graduation she worked several years in finance and and accounting division in one of manufactured company in New Jersey before returned back to Indonesia.

She earned her Masters of Business Administration degree from IPMI International Business School in Indonesia. Before joining UPH, she had 14 years of working experiences in several commercial companies functioning in Marketing and Business Development. Now, she teaches subjects such as Introduction to Marketing, International Marketing, and Consumer Behavior.
