PMI Goes to UPH Campus and Collects 82 Bags Under 6 Hours.

The blood donation event at UPH Campus, which lasts for six hours, successfully collected 82 blood bags with a total of 114 participants. The intriguing thing is that this event was held in a PMI van with only four donor chairs.

The activity was an effort by the Students Executive Body Universitas Pelita Harapan (BEM-UPH) to facilitate the PMI Kabupaten Tangerang program titled Blood Donation: Go to Campus. The blood donation activity lasted in the PMI van parked at UPH Karawaci Campus for three hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for two days, from 18 to 19 June 2019.

The blood donation activity on campus has been an ongoing thing that is held twice per year. This way, BEM-UPH hopes to facilitate even more donors. The BEM-UPH facilitated activity was named Blood Donation on the Go!

Ati, a Representative from PMI Kabupaten Tangerang, explained, “Blood Donation: Go to Campus is a PMI Kabupaten Tangerang program that invites the youth to donate their blood because the young generation is usually not excited in donating their blood early on. Therefore, PMI Kabupaten Tangerang searches for solutions, coming up with this idea in bringing the blood donation to them so that they will be more enthused to join.”

Through Blood Donation on the Go! that is planned to be held each month, it is hoped that there will be more opportunities for UPH students to participate in blood donations. It is hoped that it will create awareness in the young generation of the importance of regular blood donations.

BEM-UPH is also active in campaigning the advantages of blood donation such as balancing iron in the body, as well as detecting diseases in the body early on. Updates are often posted through the Instagram account: @bem_uph.
