UPH’s Canteen has fulfilled the Standard for Healthy Canteen according to the Ministry of Health of Republic of Indonesia.

Along with the commemoration of the 54th National Health Day with the theme “I Love Health, Let’s Live a Healthy Life, starting from us” as determined by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI), the Ministry of Health held a series of competition. One of them is the Healthy Canteen Competition. This competition was followed by 27 ministries of Indonesia and 8 universities.

This event also includes a number of program, association and institution collaboration such as the Departement of Nutrition, Departement of Environment Health, Indonesia Environmental Health Specialist Association, and many more.
In this competition, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) has successfully won the award for the second healthiest canteen. UPH also received a trophy, certificate as well as another prize. The award giving ceremony was held on November 10, 2018 during the National Health and Health Products Development Exhibition in ICE BSD, South Tangerang.

The Healthy Canteen Competition has been held from October 21-29, 2018 and was followed by 27 Ministries and 8 universities, namely Universitas Pancasila, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Tarumanegara, and Politeknik Kesehatan Jakarta.

In regard to this achievement, Mariani Jusup – UPH Canteen Manager said that the most important is not the award, but the effort that has been done in order to maintain the contentment of UPH Canteen consumers, both from the food and beverages variations, affordable prices and most importantly, healthy food environment.

“Our focus is to maintain customer’s contentment when they eat and drink in UPH canteen, with the food, the price and the atmosphere. For the food, we want the consumer to have various options of culinary. Right now, the UPH canteen has 32 stalls with 13 big stalls, 8 island stalls in the middle of the canteen, and 11 cart stalls – with various kinds of foods such as Indonesian food, Japanese food, Korean Food, Chinese Food, Western Food, and Traditional Snacks. And of course, the price is very affordable,” said Mariani.

With this achievement, UPH has been seen to fit the Food Sanitation, Health and Food Worker Safety Hygiene Standard, as well as the balanced nutrition standard. This Healthy Canteen standard are determined by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. Aside from food hygiene standard, the Ministry of Health also evaluate other aspects such as location, the food workers or chefs, equipment and the food itself.

Here are the winners of the Healthy Canteen Competition as chosen by the Ministry of Health of Republic of Indonesia: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the first winner, The Ministry of Finance as the second winner, and Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs as the third winner. For the university category, Universitas Tarumanegara came out as the first winner, UPH then became the second winner, and Universitas Indonesia also came out as the third winner. (mt)
