Tangerang KPU (General Election Commission) Gives Awareness Campaign of the 2019 Election to 2000 UPH Students.

KPU (General Election Commission) of Tangerang collaborates with Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) together with TMD Lippo Karawaci held the campaign to educate about the election on April 17 2019 to around 2000 students, on Tuesday, 6 Nov 2018 at UPH Lippo Village Grand Chapel. This education campaign intended primarily for students who have a domicile out of Banten, such as Teachers College, Faculty of Nursing students, and out-of-town students from other faculties.

The counseling is given directly by Muhammad Ali Zaenal Abidin – Chairperson of the Tangerang Regency KPU with the aim of ensuring students to become good citizens by taking their voting rights, since this election is different from the previous election.
2019 Elections will be held simultaneously. This means that in one day we will get 5 ballots at the same time, namely to elect the President and Vice President, candidates for members of the DPR RI, DPD RI, Provincial DPRD, and Regency and City DPRD – so that it becomes more complex.

Ali explained that in this election there were 3 types of voter lists namely DPT (Permanent Voters List); DPTb (Additional Voters List); and DPK (Special Voters List). Based on these 3 types, UPH students who domiciled outside of Banten Province can use the voting rights at polling stations around Tangerang area, so there is no need to go back to their original area. The way is by arranging the moving voters’ process, so they can enter the DPTb group.

“To join DPTb, the main key is to make sure you check your name if you have registered in the DPT or haven’t, you can do this by checking at www.lindungihakpilihmu.kpu.go.id. If you have registered, make sure you take care of the migrate voters mechanism and get the A.5 form- KPU by showing the e-KTP to the KPU where you are taking care of it. After completing this procedure, you will be informed later on the polling station where you can choose. These migrate voters must be done a maximum of 1 month before the election date, “Ali added.

Ali reminded to arrange Form A.5 also, there are 2 main ways that can be done. Firstly, the voters can go to their place of origin to take care of the local KPU and get the form. Secondly, if the situation does not make it possible to return to the origin place, this arranging process of the migrate voters can be done at the Banten Provincial KPU, which is in Tigaraksa. But once again, it must be ensured that the prospective voters are already registered in the DPT.

Relate with this, Ali also informed that although he could use his voting rights, the voters who would vote at the polling station that was different from their origin polling station would not immediately receive 5 ballots. For 4 ballot papers contains the name of the legislative candidate (Candidate) will adjust between the electoral district (constituency) where he chooses the original domicile. But if the original domicile is different from the province with the polling station where he chose at that time, it is certain that the voters will only get 1 ballot paper, namely the ballot paper to elect the President and Vice President.

From UPH itself, according to Simon Mulia, M.Pd. – MYC (Mission Youth for Christ) Program Manager of UPH Residence Life, MYC UPH will help students in arranging their procedures for their election migrating, so he urges students to immediately make sure their names are already on the DPT and if they have not registered, they can inform to families in the origin area to take care of it at the local KPU. If so, students can report to the UPH MYC team to be assisted in this process.
